Acid Proof Furane Resin Cement

Introduction:

BCPL FUROCES is a Furan Resin based, chemical setting, Corrosion Proof Cement. The outstanding property of BCPL FUROCES Corrosion Resisting Cement is that BCPL FUROCES can withstand both Acidic as well as Alkaline conditions. Whereas this property is not met with in other resin cements. BCPL FUROCES can not only withstand non-oxidizing acids. salts, solvents, greases but can also withstand alkalies and detergent upto 380oF temperature.

BCPL FUROCES Cement is principally used in conjunction with Acid Proof Bricks for the plant linings of Reaction Vessels, Storage Tanks, Clarifiers, ducts, vent stacks, etc. It is also used for the lining of Corrosion Proof Industrial Floor.

BCPL FUROCES Cement is not to be used in service conditions involving the use of Hydrofluoric Acid and its salts. However, CARBOBCPL FUROCES-a carbon filled application of BCPL FUROCES can be used where Hydrofluoric Acid, Fluoride Salts and Strong Hot Alkaline Conditions are anticipated.

CHEMICAL & PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:

BCPL FUROCES - A Furan Resin Cement when fully set exhibits outstanding properties not met with by other Resin Cements. FUROCORR can withstand all non-oxidizing acids, salts, solvents, oils, greases and detergents upto a temperature of 380°F. It is principally used where strong hot alkaline and solvent conditions prevail. As indicated above, BCPL FUROCES is not to be used against Hydrofluoric Acid and its salts, strong hot oxidizing acid and its agents.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:

When fully set, BCPL FUROCES possesses the following properties:

PERPARATION OF BCPL FUROCES CEMENT:

The Preparation of BCPL FUROCES mortar is carried out by careful mixing of BCPL FUROCES RESIN LIQUID AND BCPL FUROCES POWDER in the ratio of ONE Part by weight of BCPL FUROCES RESIN to three parts by weight of BCPL FUROCES POWDER. The ratio may vary slightly depending upon workmen's preference, temperature at the site of mixing and working conditions.

Following procedure is recommended for the preparation of the BCPL FUROCES mortars:

1.  Stir thoroughly the contents of the BCPL FUROCES RESIN LIQUID container prior to its use. Draw ½ kilos of Liquid Resin Solution and place it in a suitable shallow mixing pan, preferably of Aluminum.

2.  Add carefully 1½ Kilograms of previously weighed BCPL FUROCES CEMENT POWDER into the mixing pan and stir thoroughly. The addition of BCPL FUROCES powder is carried out gradually, adding a little powder at a time and mixing it continuously with BCPL FUROCES Resin Liquid. The through and rapid mixing will give BCPL FUROCES mortar of right consistency. In case the cement mortar is not smooth or is stiff, add a little more of resin liquid or if the resulting mortar is soft, add a little more of powder till the desired consistency is obtained. Under no circumstances, BCPL FUROCES mortar thus obtained should contain lumps or entrapped air.

3.  BCPL FUROCES cement is a chemical setting type of cement and as such it requires accumulating heat of reaction. As such, BCPL FUROCES mortar should be spread out in the form of thin layers, not more than 1/2". This will enhance the working like of BCPL FUROCES cement and will dissipate the heat of reaction.

4.  BCPL FUROCES cement cannot be used once it starts setting or when it gets stiff. Do not add more of liquid resin in order to make BCPL FUROCES mortar usable.

5.  BCPL FUROCES cement can be mixed in required batches depending upon the requirements at site and the speed with which the brick laying masons work. However, large batches should not be made, as this will shorten the working time. Very large batches will become stiff quite rapidly and as such only that much of the material that can be used within 20 minutes be prepared.

6.  When the temperature at the site of working is above 100°F, very small batches not more than 2 kilos should be prepared. In case the mortar becomes stiff rapidly, the mixing of BCPL FUROCES resin and powder should be carried out under cold conditions. In this case, BCPL FUROCES liquid resin should be placed in a water bath containing ice-cold water and mixing should be carried out under cold conditions.

7.  BCPL FUROCES cement mortar should be removed from the mixing pan immediately after each batch is used up or else it will get stiff and is difficult to remove from the mixing pan.

8.  Alcohol may be used to soften the stiff BCPL FUROCES mortar adhering to mixing pan, if required.

APPLICATION OF BCPL FUROCES CEMENT:

BCPL FUROCES Cement is applied by buttering the contact vertical edges of the Acid Proof bricks and by placing the bricks in position, under squeezing action. This will exude the BCPL FUROCES smooth mortar from the joints ensuring thereby that the uniform through point is obtained. The Acid Proof Bricks on which the application of BCPL FUROCES cement is required should be absolutely dry, clean and free from moisture.

PRECAUTIONS:

The area where BCPL FUROCES cement is applied should not be allowed to be contaminated with constructional dust, cement sand plaster, dirt, etc., as this will interfere in the final setting of the FUROCORR Cement The area should also be kept away from traffic and be free from water spillage of any kind.
